Wir stehen vor ihm, diesem eingesackten Sockel. Mit seiner schwabbeligen Form in gebrochenem Weiss erinnert er mehr an einem Körper. Ceylan Öztrük richtet mit dem Titel Dreaming Pedestal den Fokus auf die Fähigkeit eines Objektes zu träumen, müde zu sein, zu sterben. Tatsächlich kann man mit dem Sockel und dessen Problematiken fast schon eine Gefühlsebene betreten. Und so schaut man diesem Objekt beim Schlafen zu und stellt sich seine Träume vor. Ein stummes, erschöpftes Wesen, auf dem kalten Ausstellungsboden. Die Tagesreste lassen diese archetypische Form kollabieren, die Materialität aus Silikon weist auf die konstante Fetischisierung hin, der es ausgesetzt ist und bringt das Licht in jeder Rille zum Glänzen, man kann sich auf dieser glatten Ebene den Schweiss vorstellen, der durch den ewigen Diskurs abperlt. Vielleicht ist er aber schon viel weiter in seinem Traum und verbindet beides, das Verschwinden von Sockel und Skulptur. Es ist die präzise Zweideutigkeit des Objekts, die die Jury überzeugt hat, Ceylan Öztrüks Arbeit auszuzeichnen.

Avec sa forme brouillée couleur blanc cassé, il fait davantage penser à un corps. Par le titre, Dreaming Pedestal, Ceylan Öztrük attire l’attention sur la capacité que pourrait avoir un objet de rêver, de ressentir la fatigue, de mourir. Et de fait, on peut avec ce socle et ses problématiques, quasiment accéder à un niveau perceptif de l’ordre de l’émotionnel. Et ainsi on regarde cet objet dormir, et on imagine quels sont ses rêves. Un être muet, épuisé et affalé sur le sol froid de la salle d’exposition.
Les restes diurnes font s’effondrer cette forme archétypale. Sa matérialité faite de silicone renvoie au constant processus de fétichisation auquel il est exposé et fait briller la lumière de chaque sillon ; sur cette surface lisse on peut se représenter la sueur qui perle goutte à goutte provoquée par le même éternel discours. Mais peut-être son rêve l’a-t-il déjà emporté plus loin, là où le socle et la sculpture ont tous deux disparu. C’est l’ambiguïté précise de cet objet qui a convaincu le jury de récompenser l’œuvre de Ceylan Öztrük.

Con il titolo Dreaming Pedestal, Ceylan Öztrük si concentra sulla capacità di un oggetto di sognare, di essere stanco, di morire. In effetti, si può quasi giungere a un livello emotivo con il «problema del piedistallo». E così si osserva questo oggetto che dorme e si immaginano i suoi sogni. Un essere muto, esausto, sul freddo pavimento della mostra. I «resti del giorno» fanno crollare questa forma archetipica, la materialità del silicone indica la costante feticizzazione a cui è sottoposta e fa brillare la luce in ogni piega; su questa superficie liscia si può immaginare il sudore che scivola via dal perenne dibattito intorno all’oggetto. Ma forse è molto più avanti nel suo sogno e combina entrambe le cose, la scomparsa del piedistallo e della scultura. È la precisa ambiguità dell’oggetto, che ha convinto la giuria a premiare l’opera di Ceylan Öztrük.

Here we stand, in front of this slumped pedestal. Its flabby, off-white form is more reminiscent of a body. Ceylan Öztrük’s title Dreaming Pedestal turns the focus onto an object’s capacity to dream, be tired, or die. Indeed, with the pedestal and the issues surrounding it, one can almost access a level of feeling. And so we watch this object as it sleeps, and imagine the dreams it is dreaming. A mute, exhausted being on the cold floor of the exhibition.
The day’s residues cause this archetypal form to collapse, the silicon material hints at the constant fetishisation to which it is exposed and makes the light glisten in every crease; one can imagine the sweat of the never-ending discourse dripping from this smooth surface. Yet perhaps it is already much further on in its dream, combining both the vanishing pedestal and the sculpture. It is the precise ambiguity of the object that convinced the jury to award Ceylan Öztrük’s work.
